The New Ghost Hunters, Thoughts?

So what did you guys think? Leave comments below. As for TPB, we found it just well..lacking. We may be a little quick to judge as yet, but honestly, we just didn't get pulled in. The show did not have the original dynamic and once again investigating places like old buildings simply isn't what made the show successful way back in its infancy. It was the allure of the two plumbers by day, ghost hunters by night duo helping families in distress with disturbances in their home. Did we all not see over time when the show migrated from this to old buildings, and the like a dip in interest? After a while the show seemed to be changing, and not in a good way.

Real people with real problems, was what made the show unique and different. The two plumbers Jay Hawes and Grant Wilson seemed forthright and genuine, and had a small crew of characters that were fallible at times but nonetheless enthusiastic. Brian Harnois was the whipping boy in many of the episodes for his blunders and once Steve Gonsalves showed up, we knew it was only a matter of time before Harnois was out. We at TPB liked Harnois, and often times felt he was harshly dealt with on the show.

Once GH migrated into celebrity guest spots we knew it was time to turn the channel and we must not have been the only ones as our readers seemed to feel the same way, we saw a huge plummet once the infamous jacket tug Halloween show came out and the allegations began to filter in that there was fraudulent manufacturing of paranormal activity with Grant Wilson. Once Wilson left the show it all seemed to be in a downward struggle. We hoped for a return to the basic formula with the new GH show.

Alas thus far it is looking like the same ol' same ol'. We aren't quite prepared to throw in the towel though, as the season is new and perhaps feedback will help. Assuming the shows producers listen. TPB would like to see them scale back their members, which so far seem pretty lack luster, inasmuch as group dynamics are concerned. Let's hope the new show goes back to helping people in their homes. Those of us expect old buildings to be haunted. People having issues in their home, well that is something we all can relate to. Families in crisis, needing answers, now that is what got us hooked.

Shows like Psychic Detective has since come along and capitalized on that real people in real homes formula and the show has been very successful. Grant Wilson can not be the only recognizable face in this new show. Jason Hawes, and perhaps a few others from the original cast need to atleast make cameo appearances, the energy and dynamic they had needs to be captured again. That's out view here at TPB, whats your thoughts?

Is Dave Tango of Ghost Hunters getting fired?

The latest rumors running rampant are that Dave Tango may be getting the ax on the hit SyFy show Ghost Hunters. In a recent facebook statement, Jason Hawes founder of the group TAPS and lead investigator of Ghost Hunters posted...
"ALL new Ghost Hunters tonight on Syfy and it's #HAWESOME!
Help us get the word out or Dave Tango gets fired!!
OK, I wont fire him, I'll have Steve do it!
Share this and get the word out!"
Now for those reading this they may just say, Oh well that is just a simple joke and meant to be funny, however many people that read the line have taken it seriously sparking a lot of internet activity to learn whether this was in jest or not..
TPB can conclude though that Dave Tango is still on the show, as his recent tweets on   https://twitter.com/davetango
Are endorsing and encouraging viewers to tune into the show as recently as yesterday. We think  if he were in serious risk of being let go he may not be so eager to endorse the show.  A quick run through of both Tangos tweets and Hawes tweets show no sign of anyone being let go anytime soon.

So we here at TPB ask you the reader, if Tango were fired, would you still watch and support the show?

Ghost Hunters New Season begins tonight!!!!

We don't know about you, but after a lot of complaining the past season, TPB hopes this season will be a good one for the TAPS team in spite of Grant Wilson's absence. We will be tuning in tonight with the hopes that we always have that we will be able to "see what they see" not their reaction to what "they saw." If you're a steady reader here you know we have belly ached o plenty over the fact that every apparition that has been spotted by the team in later years has not in fact been caught on camera at all. This has been due to the fact that the cameraman is forever glued to the faces of the Ghost Hunters themselves rather than any "spirits" they may have seen. So here's the questions we hope get answered..
  • Will the show be worth watching without Grant Wilson?
  • Will Ghost Hunters  heed their fans advice and go back to the basic premise of the show?
  • Is Steve the new Grant this season?
  • Will viewers actually get to see any real evidence?
We'll tune in, and if  you like you can come back to That Paranormal Blog after the show and tell us what you thought of the show.

Does Grant Wilson have cancer?

DSC00117DSC00117 (Photo credit: KierDuros)

This post is to address questions from our readers concerning SyFy Ghost Hunters co-founder  Grant Wilson. Apparently there seems to be some confusion, as many have asked this question in  the last couple of weeks. So let's clear this up shall we?

Answer: While Grant Wilson is involved with fund raising for Cancer charities, there are no known reports at this time stating he has cancer. Ryan Buell of  Paranormal State, has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, see:

Poll: Will Ghost Hunters survive losing Grant?

Ghost Hunters Academy
Ghost Hunters Academy (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Many of you have expressed your disappointment at Grant Wilson's leaving Ghost Hunters, our question to you is, do you think the show has the momentum to continue or do you think this is the beginning of the end for the show and it's success?
Be sure to stop by and take the poll on the left to let us know what you think? --------->

TPB believes that the show may have started going south for a while now and thus was trying new things like getting celebrity guest stars to investigate haunted locations. However, there's a fine line between finding creative ways to improve ratings and losing credibility in the process. Is having celebrities on the show a move in the right direction? Or do they need to go back to what they started out being, a credible investigation team looking to help those families in need of answers? What say you readers?

Paranormal news blast, ok, its more like a blurb..

Who thinks it is way weird that Zak Bagans of Ghost Adventurers follows on twitter Kris Williams from Ghost Hunters? I do, and here's why-I seem to recall Jason Hawes being asked what he thought of Ghost Adventurers to which he had no real reply than to say he doesn't watch the show. Hmmmmmmmm? I guess Kris Williams doesn't feel the same way?

Ghost Hunter news: March 27 2012

DSC00117DSC00117 (Photo credit: KierDuros)

Fans of Ghost Hunters founder Grant Wilson may be interested to know that he has artwork he is posting on deviant art. If you're interested in taking a look at it, visit his link at the bottom of this article.

Jason HawesJason Hawes (Photo credit: WezlArt)Jason Hawes got a little snarky on twitter when another twitterer was wondering why Grant Wilson didn't state on the show that the reason he was leaving was to pursue a music and school.

Jason Hawes Tweets:
"Dude, leave it alone. Grant left for his own personal reasons. He doesn't owe you SHIT! Move on." RT (cont)
This was in response to :
: : " Q&A says left to go back to college and music career, so why didnt he say that on the show???"
Doc'
I have to say this is a legitimate question. If it were that simple, why didn't Grant just say so instead of playing up a mystery? Not to mention the whole cast and crew played up the final days and the "big announcement" just prior to the show airing.
Big question:
Some TPB posters are suggesting, well not suggesting- outright stating that Wilson had a drug problem. I have not found anything to corroborate these latest rumors. Anyone?

Fans not buying the "metal reaction" ring excuse by Grant Wilson of Ghost Hunters

A white gold wedding ring. Photograph taken by...Image via WikipediaWe thought we had to throw out this quick blurb. Over the past week we have been hearing from many of our readers and fans of the show not buying Grant's explanation for not wearing his wedding ring on the show.
Here's some of the questions and points we're getting from you guys:

1. If it is a metal reaction why is it only happening now, after many years of marriage?
2. Why not replace the ring?
3. What metal was the ring made of? Usually gold doesn't cause many allergic reactions.
4. What was that rather heated looking discussion with Jason Hawes on the episode where Grant announced he was quitting? It looked rather animated and why tell Jason while the show was filming?
5. Grant tweeted he's just "done with it" that doesn't sound like a very amicable departure.

Ghost Hunters Returns April 11th

Ghost HuntersImage via WikipediaGhost Hunter Grant Wilson fans be sure to tune in April 11 th for the final "Grant" investigation episodes to resume.

To play catch up:
Recently, Grant Wilson dropped a huge bomb on the SyFy show stating that he was leaving the show. Many TPB readers flooded this site to find out why he has made this decision and as of today, the exact reasons are still unclear.

Many TPB readers have come up with some compelling theories, covering everything from having an affair with another GH member to marital troubles due to the absence of a wedding ring on Grant's finger. Ah our readers are an observant and creative bunch.

Recently, TPB stumbled across Grant Wilson's Twitter page and we see he is addressing many of the rumors with his tweets. To see what he tweeted see: Grant Wilson Tweets: "There's nothing wrong in my marriage"

Question markImage via WikipediaThe big question is, and please feel free to weigh in:
Will the Ghost Hunter show survive? Many TPB readers have stated that Wilson was their favorite investigator. Is there a chance the show may begin a swift descent into the "Where are they now" television archives? Or, will they continue on and find ways to amp things up via celebrity guests?

TPB hopes that they don't go the celebrity route, somehow it seems to cheapen the show, but that's just our opinion.  What further seems to be a goofy turn of events is that it is rumored that none other than funny man Jerry Seinfeld is slated to be a replacement for Grant Wilson. Hmmm...I can only imagine what direction GH will be going in if that happens.

Grant Wilson replaced by Jerry Seinfeld?

host
Photo of jerry Seinfeld at the Emmy Awards.Image via Wikipedia
Ghost hunter material? Seriously?
Well just when you think the latest departure of GH founder Grant Wilson was the most shocking paranormal news of the year, would you believe a new rumor is surfacing that is even more shocking? Recently a rumor has circulated stating that Grant Wilson's replacement would be none other than Jerry Seinfeld?
Our question to our readers is, will this help or hurt the show? TPB has long griped that Ghost Hunters was becoming too Hollywoody, is that  a word? Well at any rate we thought the show was going in a very "commercial" direction when celebrities started popping up on the weekly show.
Is this a blatant attempt to do damage control to keep the ratings from plummeting in the aftermath of popular Grant Wilson's abrupt departure?
Just for the record: TPB has tried to verify this rumor, found one floating source thus far, but in the event it is true, we want to be able to say we shared the rumor with our readers :)
Wonder who would replace Jason Hawes should he leave? Woody Allen? Couldn't you just picture it? "this is crazy, we're hunting ghosts can't we just channel Casper, at least he was friendly?" LOL

Rumors of Grant Wilson's departure from Ghost Hunters run rampant

English: Picture of Grant Wilson, Co-founder o...Image via WikipediaJust prior to the show airing last night, Ghost Hunter :Amy Runi tweeted Tonight! All your questions are answered on the mid-season finale of! 9pm on  - DO NOT MISS IT!

The interesting thing to note about this is that there seems to be far more questions than answers as to why founder Grant Wilson left the show. Rumors persist in light of this new information and they run the gamut from Wilson was fired by the show, to a secret affair with another Ghost Hunter member to an undisclosed illness.

Many viewers were quick to point out to TPB that Grant Wilson was in fact no longer wearing his wedding ring. There were reports indicating that in a tweet a fan did pose this question to Wilson who tweeted he had a reaction to the "metal" and that they were trying to "fix" this.

Other reports on the internet suggest there was some issues between Wilson and other founder Jason Hawes which was more than likely drawn upon some questionable tweets between the two previously.

One quick read through Grant Wilson's various tweets and one can assume this, he's known for some time prior to the show he was going to leave and they seemed to work the announcement in to make for a ratings boost.

According to The Atlantic Paranormal Society Website:

1. Grant was not fired

2. Grant did not leave due to health issues

3. Grant did not  leave due to a rift between himself and Jason Hawes

4. Ghost Hunters is not being cancelled

5. No new lead investigator is slated to take Grant's place

6. Grant will be pursuing other endeavors ie: graphic design, art, and music to name a few.

7.  Grant will not be an "active" member of TAPS at this time, but will assist Jason in other areas.

8. Grant has no plans to make any upcoming personal appearances at this time.

9. Grant will remain an active co-owner with Jason Hawes of their joint business venture The Spalding Inn.

Ghost Hunters New Season

Cable's Sy Fy network is obviously onto a good thing with their paranormal shows. While some stay interesting, others seem to falter through trials and tribulations, will this work for ratings? Etc. I know what they are doing, heck I do it all the time as a freelance writer, you find a topic, write on it and if you get a staggering number of hits, you branch off of that story and write more in hopes of capturing the magic again and again.

Sy Fy did this with Ghost Hunters, now you guys know, by now my big problems with the direction GH was going in, too commercial, too many celebrities, and almost on the brink of being well, over exposed. I called for a return to the basics (investigating real homes and I will make allowance for prisons and mental hospitals), what got me watching their show in the first place. Like all shows that start off great, money and fame seem to pollute it.
Ghost Hunters InternationalImage via WikipediaCue Ghost Hunters International. Well, lets just say this, I expect old castles and old buildings from old countries to be haunted. I say leave them alone. Going over to Scotland, England etc and stirring up ghosts in their domain that aren't bothering anyone is a little old hat now.. At best they may get an interesting EVP. At worst you fall asleep on your couch and realize with some disappointment that you did not sleep through the entire show. Everyone knows the Old World is haunted. If I am going to watch a bunch of people going off to remote areas of the world in pursuit of paranormal activity, I will watch Josh Gates in Destination Truth. Gates side remarks and statements he makes under his breath about the locals on any given show are golden and worth watching. I get his sense of humor and he is entertaining to say the least.

Ghost Hunters AcademyImage via WikipediaCue Ghost Hunters Academy. Why? This show also fell short in so many ways. First of all lets start of with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson's golden boy Steve Consalves. Steve has a condescending air to him that some find off-putting. Why Hawes and Wilson fell in love with him is beyond me. I think he was an odd choice to head up this so called “academy.” Especially when you consider he is a walking mass of phobias. However, when you consider he wont fly in airplanes, squeals at the sight of bugs it's no surprise he is given the job of choosing the next GH member instead of investigating. Dave Tango, actually we think Dave Tango is worth a damn. He rarely yaks throughout an investigation, takes his job seriously and seems to be a sincere fellow. TPB (That Paranormal Blog) likes Tango. However, this show is not interesting for the most part and the fact that Consalves seems to nit pick over mundane mistakes the newbies make is irritating.

I remember plenty of goofy mistakes Consalves made when he was a newbie as well. In fact, note to self, If ever there is a Ghost Hunters Bloopers special, I'M THERE! Oh and while I have mentioned this before, please tell the females on the show, all of them, to Shut up!!! They talk continuously through investigations and it is maddening! Not that I have missed anything, other than the occasional “what was that?” or the occasional “bang/footsteps” that they claim to hear. Unlike some other paranormal shows, the camera man is never aimed in the direction GH investigators are looking which is why WE never see a damn thing.
Oh and for what it's worth, Bring back Weezy! Brian Harnois was fun to watch, had a colorful personality. For all his faults and so called mistakes the man would get on a plane for Christ's sake! Every mistake was blown out of proportion on the show and while they raked Harnois over the coals they all but breast fed Consalves and made exceptions for all of his errors and phobias. I recall someone “Consalves” criticizing him for wearing a hat that said “Dude Run”, a remark Harnois made while running from a ghost in one of the shows. I guess the “dude run” phrase gained some popularity. I think Consalves should get a hat that says, “Eek a spider, I'm going home.” Ok I guess I bashed Consalves enough.
Don't worry Ghost Hunters, although I am a harsh critic of your show, I continue to watch and hope that your latest season will be the best. Jason Hawes you remind me of my dad, so I can't possibly dislike you, and Grant, you seem like a nice enough fellow, I like your calm approach and soft spot for kids. You also have a lot of talents, composes music, plays guitar, writes and illustrates fantasy characters etc..I even heard you were quite the accomplished “chef.” Good luck in this new season..

Grant Wilson, Jason Hawes
We want your stories of the paranormal. If you watch many of the shows on television who try to debunk paranormal experiences are usually stretching it pretty far. Almost everyone you know has a story to tell. You may have one of your own.
Use the comment section to tell your story. The fact of the matter is that we are not alone and we are sometimes left to wander our past life. Call them ghosts or spirits, they are here to let us know that there is much more than what we see and hear.
Ever have the feeling that someone is standing next to you? You're not alone. Many people have experiences and do not even know it. Think that shadow is just a reflection? Maybe. But you can not blame them all on passing cars!
My sister and I started this blog to make people aware of the truth. We will provide information and stories of the paranormal. We have both had very personal experiences at different times in our lives. We are not alone and we are not afraid. Enjoy this blog and please contribute.
