Fans not buying the "metal reaction" ring excuse by Grant Wilson of Ghost Hunters

A white gold wedding ring. Photograph taken by...Image via WikipediaWe thought we had to throw out this quick blurb. Over the past week we have been hearing from many of our readers and fans of the show not buying Grant's explanation for not wearing his wedding ring on the show.
Here's some of the questions and points we're getting from you guys:

1. If it is a metal reaction why is it only happening now, after many years of marriage?
2. Why not replace the ring?
3. What metal was the ring made of? Usually gold doesn't cause many allergic reactions.
4. What was that rather heated looking discussion with Jason Hawes on the episode where Grant announced he was quitting? It looked rather animated and why tell Jason while the show was filming?
5. Grant tweeted he's just "done with it" that doesn't sound like a very amicable departure.

  2. Our own personal research shows that it is usually the nickel content in a ring that causes "wedding ring rash." If a ring is 14 to 18 karat gold the likelihood of this is lessened. I guess the next question is what kind of ring did Grant have and was it gold or some other metal. This condition however, is easily treatable with hydrocortisone cream. We wish him the best either way.

  3. the show is fake anyway. None of their evidence can be proven as valid, because it is intentionally recorded/captured in a way that can be difficult to detest and analyze.

If I were to run a ghost hunting business, each crew member would wear a 360 degree camera head/shoulder set at minimum. For if you aren't capturing all angles, you aren't doing your job as a ghost hunter. For each night vision camera you have an FLIR stacked at the same angle, for later comparison and analysis. I would do it totally different than TAPS, because I would actually want to FIND... REAL... evidence. Clearly that is not their goal.

Finally, you don't have a film crew 1.) record you in a sensitive environment and expect un-tampered results, nor 2.) allow said film crew to edit and merge together parts of footage. Footage should be un-edited, un-altered.
    Pretty basic stuff.

So honestly, what does it matter if Grant stays or goes? What does it matter if his ring is partially nickel, or if his marriage is stressed? Perhaps he decided to become a woman and is undergoing surgery as we speak. It's irrelevant.

The show has no credible evidence, no credible members backed by any scientific study, and clearly plays on public deception - or blogs such as this would not even exist.
So peace out Grant. I hope you come clean in the future and let us all know how staged we all know the show to be. For then perhaps the idiots who succumb to the bullshit media we all love so much, will finally see it for what it is.... complete utter crap.

    1. I respectfully beg to differ on your point about blogs like this existing due to public deception. This blog examines and asks the questions we all wonder about in the world of the paranormal in general. It doesn't exist based on one paranormal show's validity or lack thereof. While we examine and comment on many of the current shows that investigate or claim to investigate the paranormal, we make it clear that we are pretty skeptical about most of them. Our conversation here is on the bigger scope of things, and our goal is to offer a forum for our readers that have similar experiences and questions. If you are going to form a real opinion on a blog, I ask that you read more than one post before making a sweeping judgment. Paranormal pursuits existed before Ghost Hunters came on the scene and will no doubt exist after Ghost Hunters has long left the scene. As long as there is someone out there in the world that says "what was that?" there will always be a blog to say, "could it be paranormal?" and that, has nothing to do with one show, it has to do with man's constant need to know, and his unwavering curiosity about things he can not explain.

    2. You diverged quite a bit from the points I was making. I assume that was intended?

As for your points, I completely agree about THIS blog, as it has a span encompassing many different subjects. That was poor usage of words on my part, and I couldn't agree with you more. :)

I'm fully aware of ghost hunter pursuits irrespective to Ghost Hunters the show. But my points, in a nutshell, were that the way THIS show goes about it is ALL wrong, and THAT is symptomatic of a social mindset composed of people who believe in something provided by methods of pure fallacy. It's like eating poop holding your nose closed, and then wondering why you have an aftertaste of poop..
I recommended some quick examples of how I would approach ghost hunting... as they would be credible ways to validate experiences -- however such a thing is wishful hoping. What good is credibility in a media driven world (sarcasm).

But anyway, I appreciate the reply, your words regarding this blog are undeniable, and truly well-written. Also, I agree with your comment about peeps comments saying it isn't anyone's business. But I personally think it matters not either way, for it is but poop we are eating anyway, as it were.

  4. I think a lot of his fans were concerned about why he left, especially when they made these people a part of their lives for so long. Cut the fans a break. I am sure, if you had someone that you saw once a week for years, and they suddenly made a big announcement they were leaving, you'd be curios as to why too. Let's be honest. So many people come to read this post and then say "oh it's no ones business.." yet you came to read it anyway...hmmmm???
