I have to say this is a legitimate question. If it were that simple, why didn't Grant just say so instead of playing up a mystery? Not to mention the whole cast and crew played up the final days and the "big announcement" just prior to the show airing.

Big question:

Some TPB posters are suggesting, well not suggesting- outright stating that Wilson had a drug problem. I have not found anything to corroborate these latest rumors. Anyone?

Ghost Hunters Returns April 11th

Recently, Grant Wilson dropped a huge bomb on the SyFy show stating that he was leaving the show. Many TPB readers flooded this site to find out why he has made this decision and as of today, the exact reasons are still unclear.

Many TPB readers have come up with some compelling theories, covering everything from having an affair with another GH member to marital troubles due to the absence of a wedding ring on Grant's finger. Ah our readers are an observant and creative bunch.

Recently, TPB stumbled across Grant Wilson's Twitter page and we see he is addressing many of the rumors with his tweets. To see what he tweeted see: Grant Wilson Tweets: "There's nothing wrong in my marriage"

Will the Ghost Hunter show survive? Many TPB readers have stated that Wilson was their favorite investigator. Is there a chance the show may begin a swift descent into the "Where are they now" television archives? Or, will they continue on and find ways to amp things up via celebrity guests?

TPB hopes that they don't go the celebrity route, somehow it seems to cheapen the show, but that's just our opinion.  What further seems to be a goofy turn of events is that it is rumored that none other than funny man Jerry Seinfeld is slated to be a replacement for Grant Wilson. Hmmm...I can only imagine what direction GH will be going in if that happens.

Rumors of Grant Wilson's departure from Ghost Hunters run rampant

The interesting thing to note about this is that there seems to be far more questions than answers as to why founder Grant Wilson left the show. Rumors persist in light of this new information and they run the gamut from Wilson was fired by the show, to a secret affair with another Ghost Hunter member to an undisclosed illness.

Many viewers were quick to point out to TPB that Grant Wilson was in fact no longer wearing his wedding ring. There were reports indicating that in a tweet a fan did pose this question to Wilson who tweeted he had a reaction to the "metal" and that they were trying to "fix" this.

Other reports on the internet suggest there was some issues between Wilson and other founder Jason Hawes which was more than likely drawn upon some questionable tweets between the two previously.

One quick read through Grant Wilson's various tweets and one can assume this, he's known for some time prior to the show he was going to leave and they seemed to work the announcement in to make for a ratings boost.

According to The Atlantic Paranormal Society Website:


1. Grant was not fired


2. Grant did not leave due to health issues


3. Grant did not  leave due to a rift between himself and Jason Hawes


4. Ghost Hunters is not being cancelled


5. No new lead investigator is slated to take Grant's place


6. Grant will be pursuing other endeavors ie: graphic design, art, and music to name a few. 


7.  Grant will not be an "active" member of TAPS at this time, but will assist Jason in other areas.


8. Grant has no plans to make any upcoming personal appearances at this time.


9. Grant will remain an active co-owner with Jason Hawes of their joint business venture The Spalding Inn. 

Grant Wilson to leave Ghost Hunters

While it is somewhat unclear why Grant Wilson is leaving  Ghost Hunters, it comes as no surprise that someone would leave this show at some point. I have often wondered how on earth these married men can manage going on case after case, leaving behind wives and children.

Wilson did indicate that the job presented some stress which does make one wonder just what strain may have resulted from his participation on the show.  I must say Grant Wilson was one of my favorites on the show.

During Wilson's time on the show, it went through some strange moments that weren't paranormal. The show did go off the beaten path for a while, and as far as TPB is concerned, the show needed to get back to basics.

The basics being, small crew, more home based investigations ie: real people, not libraries, museums, and for Pete's sake no more theaters!  We expect these places to be in all possibility "haunted." To add to that list please no more celebrity ghost hunting, it's just too obvious.

Another disturbing and off  putting facet of the show is the repeated "bleeps" needed to compensate for the swearing that is commonly done during investigations. I mean geesh, have some respect for the living and the dead!

TPB would cry less if some of the more verbose members of the team were saying good bye. By more verbose, we mean Amy Bruni who seems to do more talking and less listening during each investigation. Many times

Tonight's episode also struck yet another nerve with TPB, where as Investigators Amy Bruni and investigator Adam Berry were busy digging through city hall records instead of investigating ghosts.

I found this type of activity to be very unprofessional to say the least and it amazes me that some of these investigators seemingly get away with a lot of frivolous behavior and tomfoolery. I shudder to think back in the day when Brian Harnois was on the show, if Grant or Jason would have been so lenient.
