While it is somewhat unclear why Grant Wilson is leaving Ghost Hunters, it comes as no surprise that someone would leave this show at some point. I have often wondered how on earth these married men can manage going on case after case, leaving behind wives and children.
Wilson did indicate that the job presented some stress which does make one wonder just what strain may have resulted from his participation on the show. I must say Grant Wilson was one of my favorites on the show.
During Wilson's time on the show, it went through some strange moments that weren't paranormal. The show did go off the beaten path for a while, and as far as TPB is concerned, the show needed to get back to basics.
The basics being, small crew, more home based investigations ie: real people, not libraries, museums, and for Pete's sake no more theaters! We expect these places to be in all possibility "haunted." To add to that list please no more celebrity ghost hunting, it's just too obvious.
Rumors of Grant Wilson's Departure from Ghost Hunters run rampant
*****Read the latest rumor here: (click: Ghost Hunter founder Grant Wilson to be replaced by Jerry Seinfeld)
Another disturbing and off putting facet of the show is the repeated "bleeps" needed to compensate for the swearing that is commonly done during investigations. I mean geesh, have some respect for the living and the dead!
TPB would cry less if some of the more verbose members of the team were saying good bye. By more verbose, we mean Amy Bruni who seems to do more talking and less listening during each investigation. Many times
Tonight's episode also struck yet another nerve with TPB, where as Investigators Amy Bruni and investigator Adam Berry were busy digging through city hall records instead of investigating ghosts.
I found this type of activity to be very unprofessional to say the least and it amazes me that some of these investigators seemingly get away with a lot of frivolous behavior and tomfoolery. I shudder to think back in the day when Brian Harnois was on the show, if Grant or Jason would have been so lenient.
I must say that Grant was one of my favorites and I believe due to the ridiculous guest stars, flash light tricks and Grant not wearing his wedding ring might have something to do with him leaving.
ReplyDeleteI guessed who was going to be leaving, but the reasons why are still up in the air. Plus, Grants hasn't been looking too well lately. Again, it could be due to his health or home-life. I just wish he would come out and say why and get all out in the open. We love you and wish you would stay, but we understand.
Really, it's none of our business why he is leaving. The clues you mention are valid, but personal reasons are just that - personal. He does not owe anybody anything more of an explanation.
DeleteI would have to agree with you on this point, his reasons for leaving are his own. Which is why you didn't read my calling for an immediate explanation. I am sure the show is hard on the married one's with children. All we can do is speculate, at any rate we wish Grant well.
DeleteDid it ever seem "strange" too everyone that Grant "never" drove the SUV or Van? His eyes were always "glazed over" & He always looked like He was half asleep? He is on some "heavy meds" which probably don't allow Him too drive or operate heavy equipment---I stopped many people who looked the way He does every week for "Driving Under The Influence"----Fmuldar, Retired NYPD, Brigantine, NJ
Delete@Fmuldar, Retired NYPD, Brigantine, NJ- I have to agree I did notice that Grant never drove the SUV. In all fairness, if you read some of the posts here, the question about whether he is "on something" has been raised by TPB readers. TPB has not however, been able to find any information to validate those claims and assertions. Even though he does look tired, and somewhat half asleep, I have never seen him slur his words, stumble or miss many shows. I would think if he was battling an addiction he'd have missed a good many shows since true addicts can't be anywhere for any length of time without using.
DeleteA team called (NemPit) paranormal team seamed to give taps a lot of tips when they started the show. And i just noticed may have communicated alot on myspace to. and will probably know if there is a reasion why Grant is leaving taps. ??
DeleteJust a thought.
Did he ever go to Salem to do an investigation. On this Salem ghost tour said that a couple of shows filmed there. Was theirs one of them? If not too bad he left already...
Delete@Anon- We're on the same page. Sorry to see Grant go.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more with your post. I think stopped watching Ghost Hunters about a year and a half ago. I don't like that they have big crews around. Although one of their rules is not to leave anyone alone. I think Grant is dealing with either family problems or health problems. You cannot discard the idea that his passion for loving the paranormal and no so much advertisement may have cause for the producers or himself to separate from the show. I have a little crush on Grant and he is very interesting. Good luck whatever his new projects may be.
ReplyDeleteI liked Grant, probably more than all the others. But that "coat-tugging" stunt that he pulled during the live show a few years back was inexcusable. That, along with the constant use of communicating with Mini-Maglites (they ALL go on/off at random when gently unscrewed and left untouched), has made me miss the old days of the show when 80% of the stuff they found would be debunked, leaving the other 20% to be truly unexplainable.
ReplyDeleteWe liked Grant too, and sincerely hope it isn't a grave issue he is leaving the show for. TPB misses the old days of the show when it had a more genuine feel to it.
Deletetotaly agree on the debunking, leaving the what was left as credible. they need to go back to the basics that made them what they are
DeleteThis blog is off the mark. The bleeping is notorious on that other ghost show where the investigators are the 3 stooges. This show uses activity like going through records to spark or to provoke reaction from spirits (which happened). This blog was likely written by a fan of Brian of long-ago, looking for any excuse to criticize this show. Ghost Hunters is understated and the best ghost hunter show on TV. Large public places may have more reports of ghost activity, and thus they are accessible to the largest number of people and are worth investigating. I suspect that the network insists on celebrity investigators to plug their other shows (since these guests invariably have their own shows on SyFy). As for Grant leaving, he has not been truly into the investigations for quite some time--often yawning and fighting to stay awake during episodes. Yet, he will be missed. The cop out was to avoid giving any explanation for his departure. If he has personal issues, just say so. We don't need details.
ReplyDeleteNo, no we're not looking for any excuse to bash the show, we've been there since the show began and we loved it in the beginning when it was more about helping people and less about flashlight tricks. For what it's worth, we don't just bash on GH, we also have issues with other Paranormal shows as well. If you took the time to read other posts you'd know that. Yes other shows "bleep" too much as well.
DeleteNot all of the buildings they investigate are accessible to large amounts of people and even for the one's that are, we simply feel that the show originally dealt with helping families with hauntings, and that was more noble and interesting in our opinion.
If you're going to thinly veil bashing the show and, more blatantly, the people in it, at least run a spell check (or learn the difference)...it's "shudder", not "shutter". It also bears mentioning that we see an extremely edited version on TV...1/2 hour of one investigation if the hour show includes two cases (including commercials, condensed down from what is presumably anywhere from probably at least 7-9 hours at a single location. I think if Amy were doing a poor job all around, she wouldn't have lasted. I'd imagine over the course of 8-9-10 hours somewhere, eventually you have some time to kill. Had there been more activity caught, I am sure the footage that makes the show would have included more of that. How many times has Steve famously taken the time during an investigation for a practical joke, or one of his "I'll bet you $20 you won't__________" ? Seriously, who cares? It's a drop in the bucket compared to the time actually spent on a case. For me, it is one of the reasons these people have endeared themselves to their legions of fans; they're REAL people, and not playing for the cameras.
ReplyDeleteSo, that said...it's very sad to see Grant go. Beyond sad, really. In a severe understatement, he and Jason are the backbone, the heart and soul of this show, and of TAPS, with or without a show. I sincerely hope there's nothing more to this than Grant wanting to "get back to" his family, but the fact that it was left vague for the viewers (the "stress" factor), makes me wonder. IMO, they (TAPS) remain the most credible people in this field, and while the show must go on, so to speak...his absence will be greatly felt.
All the best to him, and I hope he knows how much he'll be missed by the GH viewers who have been along since the beginning.
Well said!!!! We are so used to Hollywood, and reporters airing all the dirty laundry on everyone, we find it hard to think anyone would want to "cop out" by saying their reasons are personal. WELL THEY ARE AND HE OWES US NO EXPLANATION!! Give the guy a break already !!!
Deleteactually, they spend 9-10 days at a location. I have met Grant and Jason at Lilydale NY, really good people. It will not be the same show with out him. 'nuff said.....
DeleteWow ok, since you're so brilliant let me just say that spell check, doesn't correct grammatical errors, and by the way, "thinly veil bashing the show" really? I'm not sure you're the one that should be correcting me. At any rate, we have a right to our own opinion, and we'd like to see the show return to the way it started out. Celebrity guests, and investigating large old buildings just aren't as interesting as the cases where they go and help families out, again, our opinion. Try not to hate people that don't agree with you on every point, you'll be happier, really.
ReplyDeleteNo show on TV is perfect. You cannot blame the cast if the directors, producers & film editors take artistic license (to further supplement the cast’s acting) with the footage for the sake of appealing to a specific demographic. While it is well known that EVERY “reality” show contains acting and staging of scenes it’s my opinion that of the “paranormal-type” show offerings on various networks GH cast & crew make a strong effort to produce a show that seems to be more believable when compared (for example) to the Travel Channel’s offering (GA). I too am sorry to see Grant’s character leave the show. He developed a down-to-earth, soft-spoken, likeable character that we could all relate to or wanted helping us. Grant’s character, we believed, really cared about the “clients”. Grant’s character was EXACTLY the kind of guy we would want repairing our toilets. (I’m sure we’ve all called Roto-Router or other plumber at one time or another and were disappointed that the individual stepping out of the van was NOTHING like the character Grant created for us. LOL) As with everything in the magic world of TV, the show must go on . . . Maybe GH will be successful in writing-in a replacement in the style of Ashton Kutcher in Two and a Half Men. Perhaps, as opposed to being another Roto-Router type, the back story on Grant’s replacement could be that of a billionaire who has committed his life & fortune to helping those less fortunate who are troubled by “ghosts” in their life !!!
DeletePersonally I think something is very fishy here. After the announcement last night, I checked out a few websites. One of the websites had all of the 2012 events, and guess, what Grant's name or picture wasn't anywhere. I did find his name along with Jasons, linked to their Twitter account. When I clicked on Grant's it took me right to Jason's page. I think he was fired and Haley is replacing him, Jason's daughter.
DeleteYou cannot blame some "TV producer" for the way the show presents itself today without blaming Jason and Grant since they ARE Executive Producers of the show, their names clearly displayed as such at the beginning of every episode made in the last several years. I'm just hoping that Grant's leaving the show has something to do with its recent lack of integrity, but I doubt we'll ever know for sure. You can bet he has a great, big non-disclosure clause in his royalty contract since Syfy is, after all, an NBC affiliate. Let's also not forget that Grant will be in the last few shows of this season airing in April. So I wouldn't expect we'll know the truth behind his leaving for quite some time.
Delete@kerig, right again. Excellent points.
DeleteThis is true, no show is perfect. In comparison, Ghost Adventurers has been on a dismal down slide for some time now. Grant always struck me as the voice of calm reason, and he keeps a cool head in all situations-something I would have liked to have seen with some others that shriek at every little noise. I do believe that no show will flourish without some honest feedback from their viewers and in GH's case, a little negative is to be expected. As the show grew in it's success, it seemed the network got a little greedy and starting taking the show in a direction that seemed a far cry from the show's original platform in it's infancy. I do find it funny that GH discounts orbs as anything relevant, however a specific flashlight blinking on and off is solid proof. People who have owned these types of flashlights will tell you that they all will blink if handled a specific way and are very sensitive to movement. We here at TPB are sorry to see the level headed Grant abandon his post. We wish him the best.
ReplyDeleteUMMMM FYI ... you chose to get yourself in TV and in the public eye YES your life becomes our business
ReplyDeleteI think that Grant had an affair with Chris that left GH to go to GHI. That was around the time Grant stopped wearing his wedding ring. Something keeps making me think this. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!! I have been thinking that for some time, too.
DeleteI absolutely thought the same thing! Just sayin. :/
DeleteI agree!!!
DeleteI agree with this also - though the fact that he is leaving is a total bummer. the argument that i just read on the blog is a total waste of time and energy and really just made me weep for humanity. I don't read blogs often or even go online often because all I see is people insulting one another and being critical of one another. Man who cares if someone can/can't spell, us proper grammer or has an opinion that is a little different than ours. For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.
DeleteNelson Mandela
Get back to the blog - this is pretty interesting stuff! I like Ghost Hunters - do you belive in the paranormal? I do!!
We do as well Chelsea, and thank you for your thoughts, we try to be "troll free" here, unfortunately a few meanies get by us. :)
DeleteI have a gut feeling that Grant had an affair with Chris that left GH to go to GHI. That was right around the time he stopped wearing his wedding ring. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteI think that Grant had an affair with Chris that left GH to go to GHI. That was around the time Grant stopped wearing his wedding ring. Something keeps making me think this. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteI always thought that it was Jason that had the affair with Chris. He was always with her on the investigations and in one show was lying on the bed with her while investigating someones home. He also seemed to lose alot of weight at this time and I also noticed his wedding ring missing. Right after that Chris seemed to be working at GHI. Now Chris seems always to be with Barry and it looks like she is up to her flirting tricks with him.
DeleteThat was right after Chris got her breast implants, and was always wearing suggestive dresses to show off her new purchase! Now that she is 'out of the country' with GHI where it is usually cold, she can't advertise as much, and to cover up to keep warm... Grand and Jason haven't been getting along with each other lately, have lost interest in the show, not using their equipment to the fullest, if at all, or using it wrong, never staying long enough to find anything... The end is near...
DeleteI suspect you may be right the show has definitely lost steam and bringing on celebrities is the wrong way to go. IF they return to the basic principles the show was founded on, I am confident it would improve.
DeleteI forgot all about the implants!! hmm wonder how they were payed for? just asking?
DeleteWell she probably paid for them herself, they are all quite wealthy on the show.
Deletewow you guys are observant I never noticed he stopped wearing his wedding ring. That blows my mind. Anyone have any opinions on this? Chime in.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if he is leaving the show? It has poor ratings and very surprised it’s still on. Maybe Syfy will start to put good shows on instead of this garbage.
ReplyDeleteI don't think bashing others for posting is productive and point out their misspelling. Everyone has a right to their opinions of why Grant left the show. No one ever really know why Grant left the show but only Grant himself. I agree as well that Ghost Hunters are different than when they originally started the show. I also agree that it could be that they no longer had control of how they wanted the show to go. It's called a contract. I am quite sure that Syfy and producers, etc wanted to take a different direction and that's quite common with any show that becomes a success. Let's wish Grant luck and hopefully Jason can continue to be the lead investigator on his own.
ReplyDeleteWe agree wholeheartedly, opinions whether they are the same as ours or not are usually what make a discussion interesting. Ghost Hunters has gone in a direction that seems a distant memory from the old days when they were primarily about helping families. TPB was sad to see that formula fade. Last year TPB was contacted by a family in New England that sought out the assistance of GH but were turned away, we researched a few alternative Paranormal researchers that weren't so famous to take on the case. The criteria for which they will come and help a family now has changed a great deal. Good luck to the show.
DeleteWith Jason and Grant both being executive producers, I'd think they'd have a lot of input as to what direction the show goes into. However, they may have clashed amongst themselves as to which way the show was headed and that could also have been some fuel to aid Grant in his reasons for leaving..I suspect at some point we may find out..don't be surprised if you see a book come out in the next few years by Grant Wilson, detailing his reasons and memoirs. Remember you guys heard it here first ;)
Deletehe's on coke
ReplyDeleteYes he is. He is out of control with his "secret" coke /meth addiction.. i cant believe this isnt already figured out. Wake up .
Deleteplease, that is crazy. you shouldnt say stuff like that without something to base it on. just him leaving the show is not a basis to say that
DeleteTPB is unable to verify any rumor of any alleged drug use.
DeletePersonally I would like to see a whole NEW crew take over Ghost Hunters from TAPS. Jason has become obviously disinterested in every investigation, rarely engaging the client during walkthroughs and reveals. Then you have both Steve and Amy with their phobias constantly hindering investigations, and ironically both of their phobias manifested themselves in just this last episode! I do feel bad for them having to live with their fears, but they seem to always get in the way of their investigations. Yes, I still watch the show, but not as enthusiastically as I had in the beginning. The format has become tired and labored, and although they did try to slightly modify it earlier this season, within a few episodes they returned to more of the same old format. Maybe a whole new team of investigators with new methods and approaches to investigating would make the show more exciting to watch?
ReplyDelete@Kerig, again we have to agree with you on a few key points for sure, Steve and Amy take the cake when it comes to phobias. The show is lacking in the original purpose and integrity it once had going for it, and yes some new blood would definitely be refreshing, although it may be too little too late.
DeleteI agree they also always see shadows and run after them, but never catch this video.
DeleteEven when they say they are alone who's filming them?
Hard to watch anymore
I agree the show is getting bland. One thing about the newer paranormal shows they show more history and interviews with the clients more. Anymore they do very little research of the history, set up there equipment, and the present evidence then pull out to the next location. The show is getting boring. The Characters are boring, but Senfeld is the wrong pick the show will just crash and burn quicker.
Delete@Brenda, thank you for your post we agree with you 100%. We agree that Seinfeld would be the kiss of death for the show. We know that for the first few episodes, assuming Seinfeld is going to be on the show, people may tune into just out of curiosity, however, we feel it will continue down it's slippery slope into the "where are they now file.."
DeleteI want more amusment parks they can walk around and keep saying LITTLE GIRL are you here
ReplyDeleteFYI - Steve's phobia of heights has been on there from Season One. And I am sad to see Grant go...
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of the posts. I have a hard time watching the show because I no longer like any of the investigators. I too am tired of Steve and Amy's phobias. Amy talks too much, KJ and Britt just repeat what each other says, Joe Chinn seems to be afraid to chase anything down, Jason is soo arrogant, and Grant has seemed to be very disconnected or detached. The camera is always on the investigators so we always miss everything they say. I have always loved GH but it is getting very old and most often disappointing. I do wish Grant well though.
ReplyDeleteYes TPB has written many times about GH and how frustrating it is to see one of the investigators say they "saw" something, yet the camera is always on them and never on what they are looking at. The other frustrating part was the constant "what the ^$%Q^ was that?" "Did you hear that?" The audience never gets to hear anything because they are constantly talking!!
ReplyDeleteRemember now that GH was still under Grant and Jason's control whereas GHI and GH Academy was under the production company's control. Robb left GHI because he couldn't stomach some of the garbage they were being asked to do ("ham it up at every sound").
ReplyDeleteI too prefer to see the old GH where they go in to actually help families. I would love to see them now go back and revisit some of the original sites. How about the armory where the sound man got knocked on his ass? Go back there and see what is up. How about the show where the "demonologist" did an exorcism? Go back and see how that is going. Make a special if nothing else.
Notice that Chris is making eyes at Barry on GHI?
Amen to that, which is why TPB has been so critical of the show as it has progressed. It has lost so much of what it used to be about, helping real families with hauntings. I'd love for them to go back to their original sites and to scale down their crew and wear cameras so that we see what "they" claim to see...like other ghost hunters do.
ReplyDeleteSo Tiger Woods cheats on his wife and we are all over him but Grant leaves the show for "personal reasons" and he is untouchable. Once a celebrity its all an open book not matter how nice or a jerk you are. Comes with the territory. I myself say non of my bees wax. Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteI like Grant and don't think he cheated on his wife. I think Jason is a control freak and if anyone is on drugs, it's Jason. I think he looks different this past year and the neck thing he does is strange. Hasn't anyone else noticed?
ReplyDeleteDid the Latter Day Saints church he belongs to disagree with him working with a homosexual and stop Grant from taking part in episodes so as to not tarnish the image of his "church"?
ReplyDeleteAnother theory to add to the mystery of Grant's leaving. We'll never know what the true reason was, at least not any time soon. Maybe in time with plenty of distance the truth will come out. Until then we have to assume he left for the reasons he almost, sort of stated.
DeleteI have also noticed Chris and Jason's on camera flirting.I believe his wife wanted Haley there to watch her dad. I've noticed the missing wedding band on grants finger, and the blotches on his face. I only wish him the best. The show has really lost its direction, they need to go back and look at their first season. The show was about people needing Taps help, now its just plain boring. Thank you ''Fact or Faked'' now your my favorite show!
ReplyDeleteWell there's no better way to put a cramp in dad's style than with his kid tagging along. LOL. I haven't noticed the flirting, but truthfully, the show just has lost all of it's appeal to me. You are so right the show has veered so far off where it was at one time. You'd think the powers that be would see that the ratings have slipped a great deal. I originally loved this show back when they helped families that were afraid, and dealt with everyday people. Now its guest star investigators and hollywood wives, and it just cheapens the show so much. Its such a blatant attempt at snagging ratings. If they want to improve the ratings, go back to when they actually cared about real people with real problems. Fact or Faked is Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe show will never be the same without him. I love the way they all work together and get along on this show. I am sorry that for whatever reason Grant is leaving and will surely miss seeing him. Love you Grant and Best of Luck in the future.
ReplyDeleteI suspect we will see Grant on occasion guest hosting or investigating, I seriously doubt this is the last we'll hear or see from Grant on the show.
ReplyDeleteI unnderstand that Chris was in an abusive relationship and she and Barry hit it off while he was guest hunting on the show. The best way for her to keep doing ghost work and get away from the abuse would be to go to GHI and be with Barry and see if that will work out for her. Don't know her personally but she seems sweet and naive and of course she is very attractive. She seems to be a classy beautiful woman. Her and Grant or Jason? I don't think so. She once said they treated her like a little sister.
ReplyDeleteThey (Grant and Jason) also do not allow for the investigators to be dating each other..it's in the contract. I've always thought that Chris and Barry had a great connection, and if they didn't see that, that's a shame. Sometimes we don't see what's right for us, even when it's right under our noses. I've missed several of the GH episodes because I don't have a television, and when I did have one, I didn't have cable..I used it to watch dvd's on. I was sad and surprised when Grant decided to leave the show. My gut tells me he left because maybe...just maybe...his wife was getting tired of carrying the whole load at home, while he was traveling all over the country, and abroad. I think if that were the case, he did the right thing...his family is the most important thing...and hopefully he saved enough of the money he earned on GH, to invest in his children's college educations and to live a comfortable life. God bless all the cast..in whatever they do.
DeleteI remember hearing some hint of a past abusive relationship on the show. I really can't imagine Chris going for either married man. It would be the height of stupidity for her to risk so much and for them to risk everything as well. She is very attractive and I am sure she can get any fellow she sets her sights on. That being said, She is a twitter friend of fellow ghost hunter Zak Bagans from Ghost Adventurers, see post:http://thatparanormalblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/paranormal-news-blast-ok-its-more-like.html
ReplyDeleteI will miss Grant when he leaves. He's my favorite. As a member of the LDS church I can tell you that our church wouldn't have "forbidden" him to work with someone because if who they are. His reasons must have been important to him. I heard a rumor that Jerry Seinfeld is replacing him. That's kind of strange if you ask me. If it happens to be true I could never watch the show again. We will miss you Grant!!!
ReplyDeleteAlot of the past investigations were to help families that were being tormented by the paranormal, they've always helped people out. Now its bigger venues. Business's who invite Taps in to investigate, and after they've made their conclusion, utilize the investigation to bring in more money into their business. There for making any investigation productive to them, even if its bogus. I've always loved the show when they cared about helping. Please return to that which has made you! Maybe the next season will be bring follow up's to previous cases, just to make sure those past families are well and thriving. That's a real dose of reality. They were the stepping stones to their success. I'm sure Grant will stop in on future cases. Anyway Thanks Grant!
ReplyDelete@anon, You've nailed it on the head, and I think they allowed the businesses to exploit the situation. Case and point, The Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast has had many many investigations of the Lizzie Borden house, always stating they are "looking for answers."
DeleteGive me a break, this is about keeping the business in the public eye, getting free advertising, and using the investigations as a marketing tool. You can't tell me after all these years, and with so many investigations that they don't know what they're up against. If you check out the post about the Dead Files Investigation of the Borden Bed and Breakfast you'll read more about this.
TPB agrees, they need to go back to the basic premise the show was founded on, otherwise it's a sinking ship. Already we're seeing them milk "Grants Last Investigations" for all it's worth. Cheesy.
I agree with you completely! I've been to a few of the places Taps has investigated, and seen it first hand. Taps was their cash cow. It cheapens their credability. I really hope that Grants replacement (if they do replace him) will be an investigator, not a comedian. I hope that they are reading these blogs. That would mean they care about their fans & maybe, just maybe they'll listen. Anyway Thanks Grant ! Best wishes on your next chapter!
DeleteI hope so too, after all they did have a "Ghost Hunters Academy" on air where they were teaching new investigators to join the team, and now we hear they're going to replace Grant with Jerry Seinfeld? What's the point in having the Academy..oh wait I get it, more money, new show..too bad that show was boring as all get out. If they really want to maintain respect they'll use qualified investigators and NOT television personalities, good grief. Why not get Larry the Cable Guy? or Eddie Murphy, heck why not replace the entire crew with comedians? It's sad to see it go in that direction, a far cry from those early days when their goal was to help real families. I think the best way to make sure they read blogs like this one is with readers like ours that read and respond and subscribe, this is how blogs grow and become highly visible to the public, where if not the actual ghost hunters can see and read them, but their "people" involved with the show do, and take heed of their fan base's wishes and concerns. It can only make the show better.
DeleteRe: Wedding ring posts. I did notice Grant stopped wearing his at the time Kris was sent to GHI. Did anyone ever notice that Jason had stopped wearing his while Donna Lacroix was around?
ReplyDeleteWow, you guys are observant, we didn't notice that but we know our readers are sharp and don't miss a thing. I am amazed at how astute and observant our readers are, you guys ROCK!
DeleteWow! you guys are good, I didn't notice Jason's missing wedding band. Grants last show was kinda lame,I felt cheapened by the experience. Investigating their own "Inn" really made me never ever want to stay there. They should of went to the place of their very first investigation, that would of been great. But No! We got to go through the Spauding (off season) Inn. Where its freezing & highly active with shadows & closing doors. The only highlight was room 17. Where a prankster spirit locks the keyed room, not letting your key get the best of him. That was probably the best part. And now Amy's pregnant! What else is going to happen? The whole show is falling apart. I'm happy for Amy! She's a good investigator. They need some new dedicated people to join the crew.and take back the show. Otherwise its going down the drain! "Pun" intended! Could'nt help myself!
ReplyDeleteMy wife and me have been watching since day one. over the years we both have been amazed and reflected by the GHs show. regardless of anyone perception on W W W W W and Why, we both have noticed and difference in the crew; Brian, let's just not go there. Steve, seemed to become absolutly loyal to Jason after brought Kris around, and Grant became uniquely interested into Kris's actions during key moment's. I'm sure the film editors had to become creative in not showing the obvious interest he gave her. I've worked with peoples actions, reactions and proactivness of intentions for 14 year, and I can say with out a doubt that there was a Detailed reason the AFFAIR(s) weren't denied by TAPS. Inherent potential legal action by any other persons/parties could've taken action. Regardless as a fan I still wish the truth may have been stated.
DeleteFrankly I really don't care where they investigate. Honestly, all of us are watching in hopes of seeing paranormal activity beyond reproach and I certainly don't care where they find it. If families need them to come and say exactly the same thing they say to every individual then watch a past episode. They're not ghostbusters after all, there's nothing they can do for them tangibly. This was once the only show I trusted and would watch regularly, but it has slipped. Grant has seemed drained and off his game for whatever reason. And Jason has become enamored with his own notoriety. His weight loss and mid-life crisis inspired wardrobe speak only to his ego. How can I take him seriously on a case when he spends more time playing with his dog than investigating? In my opinion that's as unprofessional as the celebrity guests. He needs to spend less time enamored of his visibility and more on his original mission statement. Steve and Tango hang around leaning on banisters telling jokes like they're just going through the motions. Adam and Amy, the two worst over-reactors in paranormal show history are only enablers for eachothers overactive imaginations. All they do is hear (and occasionally see) things no one else can. They feed off of eachother and it's just lame. If they've lost interest then end it, or add new investigators who won't think the heat coming on is a civil war soldiers spirit calling their name. At the very least rotate the teams like they used to. Debunk more, snuggle with your doggy less... it's simple.
ReplyDelete@Perlman, you hit on some key points that we at TPB have observed and agree with. Unfortunately these points all mean that this show is on a downward slope and unless producers, and the powers that be get it into check it's going to be scrapped. Jason does look like the poster boy for mid life crisis and Steve and Tango have reduced the shows credibility to nil with their tomfoolery. Tango was a good investigator on his own, but after being paired with Steve he's lost his serious demeanor. The show is a far cry from what it used to be. They should shake up the energy a little by switching up the partners. Unfortunately as time has gone by, none of them are very professional any more. I remember one episode where Amy and her partner were snooping through old records, and not investigating anything. Seriously, do they think we're watching the show to see them snoop through old records? Really?
DeleteThe show has run its course, syfy needs a brand new paranormal show. Something original & interesting. Otherwise they'll continue to lose viewers.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say I agree, stick a fork in it and call it a day. Fame kills success, oddly enough.
DeleteIf youve lost interest quit watching. The show is for entertainment, as is every other show on television. they still investigate houses every once in awhile, but whats more entertaining, a house with usually very little activity, or an assylum where thousands of people have died with almost guaranteed activity. If you dont like the characters, or where the show has gone...dont watch it anymore
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect, fans don't need anyone to tell them to quit watching if they don't like the direction the show has gone, I am sure they know that. However on this site, we allow and encourage everyone to have an opinion on the show(s)we talk about and we ask that readers offer those opinions to the discussion so that all shows we love to watch know how their public feels. I can assure you the last thing SyFy wants is a vast amount of disillusioned viewers to "stop watching." Ghost Hunters prided itself on helping out people and to many their true appeal was born of that. In the beginning you saw a few regular "Joes" that were plumbers going around and helping out families, primarily focusing on those who had children. Viewers across the country tuned in, because in part they could relate to these two blue collar sorts, and their somewhat noble endeavors to offer help to everyday people. However, as the show grew, and the fame came, the platform that found its appeal waned. The show morphed over time, and there is definitely a disconnect. To some it may be sheer entertainment, but to others, it may be a source of reassurance, support, and insight into a reality they themselves could very well be experiencing. The fans are what keep this show alive, and it's their input that should matter. If you can't handle that some of them have become disillusioned, maybe you should be the one to stop reading their posts and/or comments???
ReplyDeleteThere is always going to be stress when you fake things on a reality show.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a show that "debunks" paranormal investigators needs to happen :P
DeleteI think Grant left for one reason. The show has ran its course and has lost its aura. I fully expect this show to be cancelled by the summer of 2013. I used to love this show but quit watching it last year. There is not any excitement to it anymore. They are just going through the motions now. I am sorry to say it, but it needs to be replaced with something fresher.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but I agree with you, we, don't see a lot of life left to this show. I think last season we saw some desperation with the "celebrity" guest investigators they had on the show, this was no doubt an attempt to drum up some interest. I'd also like to say, it's not just the lack of evidence they find on the show that makes it a drag to watch, it's the fact that the nature of spirit activity is spontaneous, yet the camera men that follow the investigators around are focused only on the investigators themselves, never in the direction they are looking in. So what do you end up with? A lot of "oh I just saw a shadow," and "what the bleep was that?". The viewer sees nothing, hears nothing in many cases. Isn't that why we all started tuning in? To see something??? And by something, I mean something besides the investigators reactions..if they saw it, I want to see it too..so why not place the cameras on the investigators, so that we can see what they see? Not to mention, I'll never forget the one episode where Jason and Grant saw a full bodied apparition of a
DeleteVictorian woman, (or so they claimed) and went after it. Because the camera men were in back of them and filming the backs of Hawes and Wilson's head, we never got to see anything..that makes it a fail, and only makes more room for speculation on the validity of their show.
Honestly, I did not know the show was still on. I just found out Grant left. I just happen to be watching a borrowed GH season 2. I loved the show when it first came out but lost track after awhile. Ive always like Grant more than Jason. Brian more than Steve. But I think the show has run its course. I love Seinfeld but, I dont get it. And oh, if anyone was in love with anyone, it was Jason in love with himself and Donna.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible that Grant left the show because he could not agree to go along with the faked evidence ? I've noticed since he left Jason and the rest are finding a lot of activity suddenly. I believe Grant decided to hold on to his integrity instead of choosing the easy way to earn money. Jason comes across as an arrogant know it all and Steve he goes along with anything Jason says, which I feel is directed by the producers. The bangs and screams and shadows certainly increased since Grant left. Grant is definitely under a gag order and that's why he cannot say why he really left. If it was health issues or marital problems I feel Grant woould have shared that with the viewers as it is understandable.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point, he may very well have decided to leave based on the direction the show was going in. If that were the case that may very well be why he is not divulging any real reasons behind his leaving. He is friends with all of the investigators and to come out publicly criticizing the show would mean possibly hurting them in the process and I don't see that happening. The show does seem to have a lot more activity of late, maybe Grant's new job is "making noises" for the show in the background since it is a given they won't catch much on camera. LOLOL.
DeleteTrying to finish an episode now is almost impossible. I enjoyed it back when they debunked (the cat that was prowling around or high emf in the basement) Like with many shows, they didn't care about their fan base as much as attracting new blood.
DeleteGrant left because it was known that he FAKED ghost incidents!

Grant is morman and went outside his faith! if u know what i mean.look at his last show,no wedding ring!also this show is so fake and needed to be more legit, all the fake stunts over the years, come on..u must be on crack to watch this b.s. i have inside info on so much on grant, but woont spill the beans here!
ReplyDeleteHey why not? You're already anonymous..?? We think everyone of our visitors and readers should have a voice and an opinion. I do think when the show came under scrutiny for the 2008 Halloween episode and the coat tugging incident,..that it was only going to be a matter of time before Grant bowed out..
DeleteHe's a cokehead plain and simple. A blind man could see all the tell tale signs a mile away.I had said that from the first shows. I hope he left to get help and not delve deeper into it, but being an "artist" and "musician" I highly doubt he did.
ReplyDeleteAnon, I wish we could find something to either substantiate that assertion or diffuse it. This has been brought up before and TPB dug deep looking for anything that would indicate drug use, but we came up with zilch. We appreciate your weighing on this.
