Finding Bigfoot: Matt Moneymaker and the Coyotes

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - AUGUST 02: President of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Matt Moneymaker speaks at the 'Finding Bigfoot' discussion panel during the Discovery Networks/Animal Planet portion of the 2012 Summer Television Critics Association tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on August 2, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. First let me say, TPB does believe Bigfoot can exist..but we have to be careful when we seek the truth..not to accept everything as the truth...otherwise we are perpetuating lies as well...and so we must be selective, analytical, and skeptical...

I just had to chime in on something I am watching right now and it is an older episode of "Finding Bigfoot."  Now we have been a little critical of Matt Moneymaker and his take on Bigfoot for a long time. We've hinted many a time that his over enthusiasm, quick to assume all is evidence of a Bigfoot is jumping the gun to put it lightly.

While we believe there may be a "bigfoot" in existence, we can't just assume every account, every story and every sighting is one, as Moneymaker always seem to do. It just lessens his credibility, because he is all assuming and all accepting of everything all the time. In essence, if bigfoot were everywhere as Moneymaker seems to believe, Finding Bigfoot would have a lot more evidence than they currently seem to have.

It's not that we don't believe there may be a Bigfoot, we just don't think Moneymaker is objective enough, to be a truly effective and trustworthy authority on the subject. With that being said, we offer you this case and point...on this particular episode, Moneymaker is howling in the dark doing his best Bigfoot yell and coyotes are howling in response. Moneymaker assumes that they are recognizing his howl as a "Bigfoot" and are thus responding to it.

This is absolute hogwash. After living on a mountain in Maine for the better part of a decade I can tell you that coyotes respond to any howl they hear. I have summoned their howls many times in the evening. If you want to know if coyotes are around, one simply has to do a coyote howl and they will respond. It's their instinct to do so. Even our Siberian Husky would howl back and forth with the coyotes, until they would get really close to the cabin that is,..then she knew enough to be silent if not fearful when they were too near..

So this assumption on Moneymaker's part is simply him again, "reaching" for evidence and proof, which if you have to "reach" for evidence, or proof it is probably not either. Moneymaker should remain objective and analytical. Afterall every noise, sound, story, eyewitness accounts, are all heresay, and have many variables..

BigFoot Caught On Tape?

English: Provo Canyon, Fall 2006. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Readers this is a new story that could possibly be the most compelling footage yet, or as one may think, another elaborate hoax. Experts and skeptics alike though seem to agree that the reactions of the hikers seem to lend credibility to the story and to the film itself.

As the creature began to stand one notices what appears to be a quick glance of a human like shape and arm. It is a fleeting capture since the hikers, once realizing they were not in the safe distance of a black bear began to run. Reports indicate the hikers not only fled the scene, but they abandoned their campsite, and tent and ran to their car. When asked if they had ever believed in the existence of Bigfoot one hiker said that they had never believed that a Bigfoot existed.
This creature appears to be crouching and you only for a brief moment get a different perspective during the last few seconds of the video when it appears to stand and make its way up the incline. At that time you make note of a large back, human like shoulders and one long arm swings just out from the torso. Could this be the most provocative Bigfoot evidence in recent years? You'll have to study the tape yourself and make up your mind.

So where is Bigfoot anyway?

Bigfoot trap - February 2007Image via Wikipedia
Gee this trap certainly does seem perfect for Bigfoot, I mean a creature that is as elusive as Bigfoot is will surely appreciate this lovely, inconspicuous abode? If Bigfoot manages to avoid having it's picture taken but by a precious few chosen ones, what makes anyone think it would be dumb enough to fall for this?

This map represents some of the reported Bigfoot locations, lighter areas indicate less darker indicate most reported sightings. It is interesting to note the stark contrast between California and Nevada. You would think Nevada being one state over would report similar numbers, however as seen here, Nevada is quite possibly one of the states with the fewest reported sightings.

Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot: That Paranormal Blog's take on the show

English: Sasquatch Yeti Bigfoot Bugerbear YowieImage via WikipediaTPB (That Paranormal Blog) has been watching this show (Finding Bigfoot) on and off for some time now in hopes that it would be cool, thought provoking and interesting. I have also secretly wished that there would be some new light shed on this legend of Bigfoot. So far what I have seen is nada.

First and foremost some of the "investigators"  look more like Big foot than anything I have seen them turn up in the woods on the show. I am not going to call any names but I think you all know if you have watched the show.

We at TPB are  hopeful skeptics, however, there is another "investigator" that thinks every thing he see's is evidence of Sasquatch existence and that drains the show of any real credibility in TPB's opinion.

Here's some thoughts, bring in Psychics. Yeah I said it so? Hey, they aren't really getting anywhere relevant on their own are they? Why not utilize a wide variety of skills and tools available? Even if you never catch a real live Sasquatch on film, it would improve the shows entertainment value to see some interesting input. Tell that big hairy guy with the weird hat to clean up a little? Right now he is the scariest thing I have seen on the show and something tells me even a female Sasquatch would run from him. Ok that's my two cents, discuss...

Finding Big Foot

Robert Patterson's female bigfootImage via Wikipedia If you are like the members of That Paranormal Blog then you no doubt have seen the latest show on cable TV’s Animal Planet called Finding Big Foot. I have to say as a Paranormal enthusiast, that so far I have been , well a little under whelmed? Is it me, or is it just another wild goose chase that leads no where? I mean I want to see something definitive like the rest of the world, and if I see one more fuzzy, out of focus could be anything something walking amid the brush “thing”, I’m going to go crazy.

These shows take you through woods and folklore and little else and unlike some shows that actually offer up some sort of evidence I am left discouraged with Finding Big Foot. I do however, give kudos to Celebrity Ghost Stories, I find these shows fascinating and while some may seem a stretch others make for a great story if nothing else.

I’d like to give kudos to the show Fact or Faked as well for putting the effort into proving and disproving the stories that are circulating in the news and elsewhere. Sometimes I am a little mystified at their “debunking” techniques, but hey, I lost my ability to be “wowed” by debunking techniques from watching Ghost Hunters who are a little too quick to say something is not legitimate.
Well like everyone else I am going to be patient and keep watching, since the show Finding Bigfoot is a newbie. I will hang in there and maybe you should too,,

*******Paranormal Points to Ponder : Big Foot

Frame 352 from the film, alleged to depict a f...Image via Wikipedia
Does Big Foot exist?
There are compelling arguments on both sides of the coin. Some say that the lack of any physical evidence is proof enough that this creature does not exist. However, on the flip side of this point, is the fact there are also very few examples of physical evidence of many species of wildlife residing in the remote areas of the county and world.

The famed Patterson-Gimlin film shot by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin has been scrutinized by the finest minds in the world for legitimacy and no details have been overlooked. Several key issues that make for a compelling argument of authenticity of the footage is the quality of the gorilla-type suit in the footage. Taken in 1967.

We can certainly go back through film archives and find examples of gorilla suits and one thing you will not see is suits designed as realistically as this suit was. On top of that, the creature appearing in the Patterson film appears to have breasts. No one of that time period would have thought to add "breasts" to any suit. It's just doubtful, highly doubtful.

There have been documented cases of Bigfoot sightings since 1924. Prior to 1924, Natives of North America have recorded and handed down many stories of the "wild man" they called Sasquatch. To the Native Americans, this is no hoax, but a very real mystical creature with special abilities to appear and disappear at will.
We leave the debate here. Does Bigfoot deserve more study? Or should this creature and man's supposed need to have larger-than-life mysteries, belong in fairy tales and campfire stories?
