Demystifying Orbs

One prominent thing you will see on many paranormal groups,websites and shows are many photographs of orbs. It would be wonderful evidence if every orb meant there was spirit activity in an area you are investigating. However, orbs in the home can be a different matter altogether depending on whether they are legitimate spirit orbs, dust, mold spores or insects.

You may feel that your home has little dust, but I can assure you every home has dust. In fact, refraining from having carpeting and furnishings is unlikely to deter dust from entering your home and being airborne. Dust exists in the same quantity regardless of our efforts. Bare floors often allow dust to swirl freely every time there is a current, someone walking by, even a toy rolling across the floor can send up an unseen flurry, since it is not being trapped by carpeting of any kind.

So how do we then determine spirit orbs from dusts, mold spores and insects? Well that is a good question since many experts in the field, including seasoned investigators and photographers will tend to disagree on all aspects and points. That being said, there are a few things that one may want to research further. In the meantime, we can safely assume most are dust or one of the aforementioned known causes. Orbs that travel in specific directions, emit a glowing light, are often  regarded by Paranormal Investigators like Ghost Adventurers as legitimate spirit activity. Now the real  question is, how high of a regard to you hold Ghost Adventurers when it comes to these things?  That is for you to decide. So next time you feel there may be orbs, try filming them with your  digital camera and look for deliberate movement, changes in direction that are sharp and purposeful and post to groups like : Paranormal Unity on facebook and see what kind of feedback you get, it may surprise you.

Spirit Orbs… closer to you than you think!

Have you heard about spirit orbs? They are real. My sister and I have seen many pictures of these orbs. In 2004, my sister had a picture taken of her soon after the death of our brothers and father. Upon looking at the pictures, my sister noticed strange lights around her and behind her. This can not be explained.

I took a photograph of my mother in laws home. It was in a bedroom that is never used. They believe the room to be haunted so I jumped at the chance to take some photographs. A few days later I was going through the photos when I noticed an orb that was moving upwards… which would debunk a dust particle, which would be falling down.

Orbs are said to be the energy from spirits or ghosts. Some people who are in a little more tune to their surroundings may actually be able to see these orbs and not realize what they are! On many occasions, I will see spots of light out of the corners of my eyes. I have had my eyes checked numerous times, and the only problem I have are a few “floaters” in my field of vision, which is in no way similar to the little streaks or balls of light that I often see. Many people may be seeing these lights as well and just do not realize it. Hopefully this can shed some new light on the subject!

If you watch Ghost Hunters, like many of us have, you will know that the team members discount most, if not all orbs as being dust when they are present in a photograph or on film. In many instances orbs may very well be dust, insects or a dirty camera lens, and on some occasions that which has been labeled "dust" may in fact be an orb. The TAPS (Trans Atlantic Paranormal Society) members doubt it. The general consensus of many paranormal investigators is that orbs are not paranormal in nature but an occurring issue relating to the conditions the photos are taken under. Many are simply insects, water droplets, and specks of matter on camera lenses.
Should one consider other factors? Perhaps there should be a consideration given to certain circumstances involving orbs. Many argue that if orbs are simply dust, why don't they show up in every photograph? Dust is everywhere and presumably should show up in every photo, yet the odds of a photographer ever capturing an orb in a photo are pretty rare. Why is this? Why do orbs rarely present themselves in photos that are taken in homes that have no apparent paranormal activity, but are seen regularly in homes that do claim to have paranormal activity? Most are seen on these paranormal shows on television. Orbs that are discounted are taken in homes where the investigators acknowledge there is paranormal activity, yet the investigators of Ghost Hunters and others in the field ask you to discount that, and at the same time expect you to believe them when they declare a home "haunted".

The Paranormal show Ghost Adventurers gives more validity to orbs and offer explanations for why orbs should be considered as a paranormal phenomenon. The Ghost Adventurer shows sometimes overly dramatic presentation of paranormal activity, though entertaining, sometimes can come across as less than legitimate comparatively speaking. The the limited involvement of a huge camera crew and the use of gadgets a plenty make for an interesting hour of television, all the same. For those who believe, no proof is necessary, for those who do not, no proof is enough. In the final analysis, the believability of the paranormal investigators usually determines whether the evidence gathered is accepted or not.

Why some orbs are NOT dust

There are a lot of so called orbs that indeed may be dust, and there are a lot of dust that may actually be an orb. I find the most compelling argument that a photographed orb is not "dust" is when it has a few factors taken into consideration. Questions one needs to ask themselves.

Did the dust show up in subsequent photographs or in a sequence of photographs taken in the same conditions, same position with the same lighting and same camera?
Have there been any recent losses in the family and is the area,room. Do you know if previous owners died in the home?

 If you answered yes to more than a one of these questions, I am more inclined to believe you have captured a spirit orb. I for one believe that when you have a legitimate reason to believe an orb is not dust, or as some call them just "balls of energy and not a spirit" you are claiming to "know" something without being able to prove why you "know" this.

(Photo credit: Wikipedia)There are any number of "experts" in the field that will give you any number of reasons why you can take one photo one second and the next photo with no dust orbs present. I'm sorry but the logic they use is just too far fetched, (even more far fetched than believing the orb is a ghost, lol). One such explanation I read recently cited the reason for this being because dust orbs form in clusters and won't be in each photograph. Ok, this just doesn't sound logical.  I took a photograph with a Polaroid that had 3 orbs present, one large, one medium and one small.

All of which were not in the very next photo taken. Now I was in a mobile home, there was no lights on, and no odd movements. Just two photographs of my mom, one had the three orbs, one did not. They were taken within seconds of each other. You can take a hundred different photos, and never get any orbs, but oddly enough when you do someone is just sure it is "dust".

Now what made the three orbs in my photo remarkable? They were taken a few months after I lost my dad, and two brothers. Oddly enough, they were all different sized human beings. One really large, the next somewhat smaller in weight, and the third smaller still. I know, it's dust..yeah
