Crop Circles, from outer space or man made pranks?

Crop circles have been reported in the media since the 1970's and for many have remained a curious subject of wonder. Although some have come forward and said they were responsible for some of the crop circles there are a percentage which researchers claim to this day are "genuine". However even this has been called into question since the methods used to distinguish between man made and "other worldly" have not been clearly defined.
What many may not know is that as early as 1678 there were reports of crop circles in pamphlets. They were referred to as having been formed by a "mowing devil" and were circular in pattern. Because there was no other explanation for the unnaturally perfect cut circular pattern it was said to have been cut from the devil hence the Image via Wikipedianame The Mowing Devil was given.
What we do know is that man can find an explanation for every type of phenomenon known to exist. The problem is there is always going to be someone around to question his reasoning, and so the mysteries remain. Aside from crop circles, there have been many things done to the landscape of this world that can not be seen in perspective on the ground. My question to you, the reader is...Who are these for?
